2025 year in review

2025 was busy for us as a foundation with some intense critical cases, but lower in numbers than we have had in the past- and this may be a good thing as we’ve expanded our education! So instead of transfers, we are getting more requests for help with rescues and shelters wanting to increase their standards within their programs.

This year brought us 16 kittens and 2 young adults. We only lost 2 kittens to their complex medical problems.

While one kitten was just a few days old, Peep, was our hardest loss. He came from a construction site in VA and was found dragging his hind legs. On presentation, he had an open spinal lesion giving the diagnosis of Spina Bifida-which is complicated on its own. Regardless of medical treatment, Peep passed away in November of this year, only 8 months old. He was a happy kitten the entire time and his sudden loss was devastating.

Many of our success cases include:

  •  Piddles who needed her left eye removed and her right leg due to severe deformities and now she’s living her best life!

  • Special Edition- who needed a CT scan to find he has an extreme case of deviated septum that basically gives him one giant nasal cavity instead of 2!

  • Yo-Yo- who knows lives with Johnny 2 Sticks, a 2024 alumni

  • Tofu, one of our diaper babies who also has juvenile heart disease

  • Grilled Cheese- a hypothyroid kitten who is going to his new home for Christmas and will be living with a feline veterinary medical specialist!

  • Hoops, who needed an enucleation of his left eye due to severe disease and trauma.

We also have Eggbert back in stock and we will have a new plush, Noggin, for 2026! Thanks to your donations, we have been able to:

  • Provide medical care for our kittens (believe it or not, 18 kittens cost almost $35k for care!)

  • Go to the inaugural Space Cats, Cat Convention in Cocoa Beach Florida and lecture to the cat community about veterinary health and special  needs cats (plus everyone got to meet Eggbert, Squash and Noggin!)

  • Provide higher levels of education and support to other shelters, rescues, and veterinary teams

  • 19 adoptions that included some cats from 2024

We cannot thank you all enough for the continued support, the cheering on of our cases and just believing that these cats do deserve love and care just like the rest of them.

From our family to yours,

Happy Holidays!
